Dr. Vilcheck attended West Chester University and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He is a life long resident of Chester County. He serves as a community leader by volunteering his time on the West Brandywine Township Historic Commission.
Dr. Vilcheck has been involved with the West Brandywine Township Historic Commission since the Commissions origination in the mid 1990’s. He has served in the capacity of Chairman, Vice Chair and Secretary, and Treasurer. Through the work and dedicated help of the other Chairmen, the Historic Commission was able to complete the first phase of the Chester County’s Historic Atlas for West Brandywine. This has provided the township with a working map of designated historic assets, photographs of the assets and listing the tax parcels, addresses and level of significance. There are other sections that will comprise the Atlas but it is a work in progress from researching each property to gathering oral history from life long residents.
Gardening is a hobby for Dr. Vilcheck and the landscaping at our office features a stream and many flowerbeds that catch the motorist’s eye as they pass. The scenes are ever-changing with the variety of blooms of tulips, daffodils, crocus, Asiatic and day lilies, creeping phlox, hollyhocks, dame’s rocket, peonies, poppies, shasta daisies, astilbe, coneflower, black-eyed Susan, and the occasional sunflower and strawflower.
